Bush to Ocean Road Tours is a small tour company specialising in showcasing the beauty of the Great Ocean Road. Operated by Russell Calvert, an experienced driver with a strong love of travel and appreciation for the natural landscape, Bush to Ocean Road Tours is here to give you an easy and convenient touring experience of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road and its landmarks.
The fact that public transport to certain areas of the Great Ocean Road is quite limited means that for some tourists (either international or interstate) flying into Melbourne on work or play, one of our tours may be an ideal solution. For instance, you may have a few hours to explore but you don’t want to miss out on sights like the Great Ocean Road, Twelve Apostles or the world famous Bells Beach.
We offer a half-day Surf Coast tour or a full day Great Ocean Road tour but we’re also more than happy to work with you to arrange your own custom tour. We can take up to 7 passengers, alternatively it can be booked out for a private tour. We look forward to touring with you soon.
One of the most popular tours in Victoria, the Great Ocean Road Tour will offer you the chance to experience pristine beaches, rainforests, historical seaside towns and the Twelve Apostles; all the while driving along some of the most breathtaking coastlines in Australia.
With our flexible, small group tours, we operate around our client’s needs. We can pick up from Melbourne and St Kilda, or from the Surf Coast and Geelong areas, and drop off at different points, such as Torquay or Lorne. Alternatively, we can pick up and drop off at the same location. Because we operate small tours only, we are able to tailor-make your tour to your wishes.
If you need to be picked up and dropped off from the airport – if flight times are compatible with the tour times – we can also accommodate you.
Heading to the Great Ocean Road, our stops can include Bells Beach, one of the more famous surfing destinations; visit the Memorial Arch for a great photo opportunity (amongst many); and visit some of the many coastal towns, such as Lorne and Anglesea.
Along the way you will have the opportunity to spot the local wildlife, perhaps in Kennett River, where there are ample koalas, wild parrots and kookaburras. At the right time of year, whales are often sighted from the shore. Depending on your own landmarks that you wish to visit, the seascapes, forests and bush offer their own unique experiences.
Other destinations can include the Loch Ard Gorge, the towering limestone cliffs of the Apostles that are millions of years old, The Arch, and down to the Shipwreck Coast where you can visit Gibson’s Steps to the pristine sands.
Not just a Coastline, but Rainforest Too.
Located within the Otway Rainforest is the Maits Rest Rainforest. This is an ideal location for amateur and professional photographers alike, or for the nature buff who craves a stunning treescape. Home to some of the tallest Eucalyptus trees in Australia, our small individually detailed tours can stop here on the way through to Port Campbell National Park. From there, you can have the opportunity to experience the optional Twelve Apostles helicopter ride.
Lunch, Light Snacks and Coffee
Designed to fit your needs, the tour will also offer a stop for morning tea and lunch. Depending on where we start the tour, will determine our options, but whether you prefer a short stop for coffee and a biscuit, or a longer café latte break, ultimately, the choice is yours.
Lunch will be the same, but locations will be determined by the area visited at the time.
What to Wear
Given that you are visiting the coastline of Victoria; it is important for your own comfort, to wear the appropriate attire. Plan for four seasons in one day: sunscreen, hat, comfortable shoes and something warm for in case the weather turns cool.
The Great Ocean Road Tours are limited to small groups only, so that we can accommodate individual needs. Usually we operate on a Toyota Estima, which can accommodate a group size of 7 people (or 5 if you want some extra space). For those wanting to be dropped off at an alternate destination to that of your picked up, we do offer room for your luggage.
